A Judge Who Understands Real Life

Grounded. Fair. Experienced. Dedicated to justice that works for everyone.

Sharee Sanders Gordon has made public service her life’s work, and justice her calling.

A lifelong advocate for safe communities and fair outcomes, Sharee brings more than two decades of courtroom and community experience to her candidacy for Los Angeles Superior Court Judge, Seat 87. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from UC Irvine and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska College of Law, where she made history as the first African American woman elected President of her graduating class.

Before becoming a Los Angeles Deputy City Attorney, Sharee served as a elementary school teacher in the Watts community with the Los Angeles Unified School District. Seeing firsthand how violence disrupted her students’ lives transformed her path. It compelled her to pursue a career in the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, where she could use the law not as an abstract concept, but as a powerful tool to protect real people and strengthen neighborhoods.

In 2001, Sharee started as a trial deputy. She was handpicked for Central Trials, the busiest trial unit in the office. Later she was selected as one of the original Neighborhood Prosecutors, and assigned to LAPD 77th Street Division, then the city’s most violent area. Known for her tireless work ethic, she carried the highest caseload in the program while delivering results.

Her career is defined by innovation and impact. Sharee helped lead Safer Cities II, a nationally recognized initiative that cut crime by 50% around Crenshaw High School. She later directed the Prostitution Diversion Program, including the PDP “John” School which has served more than 9,500 participants and achieved a recidivism rate of less than 5%. She also founded the Neighborhood School Safety Program, focusing resources on protecting students and improving safety around school campuses citywide.

Today, Sharee continues her frontline work reviewing and filing hundreds of criminal cases each year, bringing seasoned judgment, balance, and deep legal knowledge to every decision.

Beyond the courtroom, Sharee is a devoted wife and mother and a committed community leader. She is a Past President of the leading public service sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter, serves on the Los Angeles Minerva Foundation Board of Directors, and is Vice President of the Los Angeles Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

Sharee Sanders Gordon’s career reflects steady leadership, proven results, and an unwavering belief that justice works best when it serves the whole community.
